CURATION

Full service styling

The Consultation-One hour, in the studio or by telephone

Before a single frame is made, we sit down together. We talk about the people in your life, the rooms you live in, and the wall that has been waiting for something true.

I bring out paper samples, frame corners, and finished pieces so you can hold the end result long before the session. A wardrobe is planned here, in muted tones that will not date the image or colorful outfits, dreamy and flowing, whatever your style. Then we choose the location, type, and book the day and time to create your portraits.

Every session, without exception, includes a design consultation before we photograph and hand-finished archival prints afterward. Alana’s is a print studio first — files are never the product, and no portrait leaves this room unfinished.

Two or up to three unhurried hours

Sessions are slow on purpose. Children are given room to be children; adults are given time to forget the camera is there. I work a great deal of patience, and I photograph the moments between the poses.

Three weeks later, in the print room

Your portraits are revealed as finished art, projected at wall scale in the quiet studio with a glass of something cold. You see them large, as they were meant to be seen, and choose together with me what will be printed.

Every piece is then hand-retouched by me in the studio: retouched with restraint, printed on cotton rag or fine art papers of your choosing, and framed in solid wood by hand. Delivery is made in person, six to eight weeks.

A year in the life of a family, or a single portrait made with the care of a painted one. Reserved for a limited number of families each year.

A session fee reserves the studio, the artist’s time, and the consultation. Artwork is chosen afterward, at the reveal, once you have seen what we made together.

To reserve your date, I require a deposit of $150 and your signed contract. ½ of the remaining balance is due 2-3 weeks before your session date, and the remaining balance is due the day of your session. I’ll send you an invoice early, and you can pay it anytime as long as it is paid before the session.

When you are ready to book, I’ll email you a link for the contract and an invoice. This makes it easy and convenient.

Your images will be uploaded to your private online gallery in about 14 days.

All of these milestones can be perfectly captured in a simple Studio Baby session! I provide all of the wraps, blankets, props, accessories, and I now also offer a limited studio wardrobe of baby outfits for you to choose from if you so wish! These sessions focus only on baby, but photos with parents and/or siblings can be added on for a fee.

This was unplanned, and there was no redo. It was a marvelous day in Camden, Maine, and the wedding party decided to walk to the reception. I ran ahead when I saw this hill, waited just a few seconds, and composed 3 or 4 images. And I looked up, and the Bride and Groom kissed!

Getting ready & design session to plan the perfect session for your vision. My guides will be emailed to cover: getting ready, what to expect, and more.
Use of my lending clothing closet and unique props.
Sessions can take place in your private yard, local park, field, lake, stream, or mountain, urban area, or any public space! -The choice is yours.
Sessions are guided, providing you with natural-looking posing.
Your pet or pets are welcome.
Expert natural and beauty retouching of all images included in your package.
Seamless ordering with online ordering. Images will be uploaded to a gallery, and we will have a live video call so I can assist you with selections and creating the best display options for you.
High-end products to choose from, gallery-worthy prints, custom framing, beautiful canvas prints, custom albums, folio boxes, and more are still available to purchase directly from me.
High-resolution files are included with every order.

Serving: Farmington and the surrounding towns within 50 miles. No additional travel fees for the following locations: Kingfield, Sugarloaf, Rangeley, Madison, Belgrade, Jay, and all towns within 30 miles of my studio in Farmington. There is no additional traveling expense! *Travel fees have increased to .70 per mile
